Is Midnight Too Early for Start of Christmas Shopping Season?

Employees at Target and Best Buy stores nationwide are petitioning to have the stores postpone their plans to open at midnight. But what do you think?

The holiday shopping season is nearly upon us, and stores and shoppers are gearing up for the rush.

Some are camping out in line already.

But with the prospect of midnight opening, there are some employees of stores such as Target and who aren't happy about it. (Some locations are planning a 10 p.m. Thanksgiving night opening.) An early opening means that their Thanksgiving family time will get cut into.

Stores regularly have midnight opening for special promotions, but this will be the first time they will open this early for Black Friday shoppers.

So comes the question: How early is too early to start shopping when it comes to Black Friday spending? Do employees deserve to have their time off?
