Huge Wooden Sculpture Towers over Idyllwild Village Center
A dedication for the sculpture will take place Saturday.
A wooden sculpture that weighs five tons and towers 25 feet over Idyllwild's village center will be dedicated next Saturday.
Called "Harmony", the collection of life-sized native animals was carved with chainsaws into four large cedar trees that were glued together to create a raw block by local sculptor David Roy. It took him five years.
The animals depicted in the sculpture include a bear, a mountain lion, a condor and some smaller creatures. According to Roy, the work represents the balance of nature and the harmony of Idyllwild's inhabitants.
