Golf Tournament to Benefit Local VFW

Desert Edge VFW Post 233 is hosting its fourth annual golf tournament on Sunday at the Executive Golf Course at Sun Lakes Country Club.

The day will begin with coffee and doughnuts during the sign in, which runs from 8 to 9 a.m., after which the four person scramble shotgun will take place. Participants receive a round of golf, a cart for the day, a golf shirt, goodie bag and lunch catered by the Vecchione family. 

The VFW is still seeking sponsors, door prizes and raffle prizes.

Sponsorships:

• Gold Sponsor: $2000 - includes two golf foursomes with eight lunches, eight goodie bags, eight mulligan’s, recognition in press-related materials and a professionally printed ‘tee’ sign denoting sponsor name and prominently displayed on the golf course.

• Silver Sponsor: $1000 - includes one Golf Foursome with four lunches, four goodie bags, four mulligan’s, recognition in press-related materials, and a professionally printed ‘tee’ sign denoting Sponsor name and prominently displayed on the golf course.

• Hole-in-One Sponsor: $500 - includes one golf twosome with two lunches, two goodie bags, two mulligan’s, recognition in press-related materials, and a professionally printed ‘tee’ sign denoting sponsor name and prominently displayed on the golf course.

• Tee Sponsor: $100 - includes professionally printed ‘tee’ sign denoting sponsor name and prominently displayed on the golf course.

• Foursome: $280 (Save $5 per golfer) - includes round of golf, cart, continental breakfast, lunch, golf shirt and goodie bags for four players.

• Individual Player: $75 - includes round of golf, cart, continental breakfast, lunch, golf Shirt and goodie bag for 1 player.

The VFW will be honoring Assemblyman Paul Cook at the tournament. Cook has received the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

Post 233 provides honor guard and color guard duties when needed and assists veterans in times of need, including helping with claims to the Veterans Administration at no charge.

Those who don’t golf may still attend the lunch for $20.
