Commuter Alert: I-10 Closures in Banning, Cabazon Continue All Week

The closures are being caused by an ongoing paving project.

A paving project on Interstate 10 between Banning and Palm Springs will continue this week-- and for the next month-- forcing a series of closures on the thoroughfare.

The work began about a month ago, and will wrap up in about another month's time, according to Caltrans Spokeswoman Michelle Profant.

This week's closures will all happen between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. every night this week, and will affect both westbound and eastbound traffic between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania Ave., according to a Caltrans commuter alert.

All lanes will be closed-- however, at alternating times, according to Caltrans.  On and off-ramps will also be affected in the area.

The closure schedule -- for tonight through Sunday -- is as follows (see schedule above):

  • 7 p.m. to 6 the following morning: alternating lanes 1 through 4 on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Hargrave Street
  • 8 p.m. to 7 the next morning: alternating lanes 1 through 4 on westbound I-10 between Highway 111 and Pennsylvania
  • 7 p.m. to 6 the next morning: alternating onramp and offramp closures on eastbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Highway 111
  • 8 p.m. to 7 the following morning: alternating onramp and offramp closures on westbound I-10 between Pennsylvania and Highway 111
