Cabazon and Whitewater experienced hours without power due to lightning on Thursday.
667 Southern California Edison customers were affected. While many had power restored late Thursday night, the last of the affected customers were without power until 10:24 a.m. Friday, said David J. Song, spokesman for Edison.
The outage was caused by lightning strikes in the vicinity of Main and Broadway Streets in Cabazon.

"There was multiple span of wire down, its not just one span from one poll to the next," said Song. "It was a minor construction job trying to get wire strung up again so that's the reason it took as long as it did."
The area affected was Beland Drive to the north, Railroad Avenue to the south, Millard Pass to the west and Desert View Avenue to the east.
