Banning to Offer Training for Job Seekers

The Pass Job Connection will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, starting Sept. 11, at the Banning Senior Center, 789 N. San Gorgonio Avenue.

The City of Banning is launching the Pass Job Connection.

The workforce development program, organized by former CalWorks Program Director Mary Hamlin, features free weekly job counseling and training classes for local job seekers, according to Bill Manis, director of economic development for the City of Banning.

“the unemployment rate in the Pass area is over 14% and as a result it’s extremely important for the City to offer services like The Pass Job Connection to help our local residents get the training and skill sets they need to be successful when applying for jobs," said Manis. "It’s also important to the City to offer these services at no charge to the public.”

Job seekers and dislocated workers can get individual attention on topics that include:

    •    Creating a Winning Resume
    •    Applying For Jobs Online
    •    Job Search – Where to Find Jobs
    •    Interview Techniques – Answering the Tough Questions
    •    Networking Strategies
    •    Career Consulting

The Pass Job Connection will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, starting Sept. 11, at the Banning Senior Center, 789 N. San Gorgonio Avenue.
