Fire Breaks Out in San Timoteo Canyon West of Beaumont

Update 6:38 p.m. A fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in San Timoteo Canyon was on the north side of San Timoteo Canyon Road, the north side of the freight railroad tracks, and a bit west of Fisherman's Retreat, Beaumont resident Teresa Espinosa tells Patch.

Espinosa was driving east on San Timoteo Canyon Road from Redlands Boulevard when she spotted the smoke and flames, she said in a phone interview.

A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in San Timoteo Canyon west of Beaumont, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The fire burned in grass and other vegetation and it was visible from San Timoteo Canyon Road.

Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a phone interview that firefighters reportedly contained the blaze to three acres.

A controlled burn is planned in San Timoteo Canyon on Thursday, according to Cal Fire.
