Spectrum Dance Boosters Team with Goodwill for Fundraiser

Donating household items to the goodwill through Sept. 16 will benefit Beaumont's Spectrum Dance ensemble.

Clean out your closet and help out a good cause.

The Spectrum Dance Ensemble of Beaumont Booster Club, Inc. (a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization) is partnering with Goodwill of Southern California and is in need of your unwanted bags of clothes, boxes of books, and household items. In return for SDE’s collection efforts, the Goodwill will donate money to help pay some of the competition fees for all the dancers in the group.

Goodwill SoCal uses your donated goods to help provide job opportunities and training for veterans, people with disabilities, and other disadvantaged people. Most items are sold at their thrift stores throughout California, but some are sent overseas to help provide clothing to people in 3rd world countries. 90% of all proceeds are used to directly help provide employment or training opportunities. They also accept your e-waste for recycling. People with disabilities are trained to take apart the electronics into their different components to prepare them for recycling.

The SDE Booster Club provides performance opportunities for children age 3-18. The kids perform at community events, at rest homes, at competitions, and at theme parks throughout the year. The booster club helps to raise funds to offset the cost of costumes, shoes, workout gear, competition fees, and performance fees. The kids’ next performance will be on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Beaumont’s Oktoberfest.

Your donations are fully tax deductible and Goodwill will provide you with a tax receipt. There is a form available at the studio to fill out if you want to receive a receipt. Please drop off donations at Dance Spectrum, 742 Beaumont Ave., during their regular business hours. See dance-spectrum.info for a schedule. Spectrum Dance only has until Sunday, Sept. 16, to collect items. The Goodwill will have its truck available for donations on the Sunday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. If you have a large donation please contact Laura Ogden at 951-321-9406 to coordinate a time to meet at the storage unit. Large furniture items must be in fair condition with no stains, tears, or scratches and can only be accepted on Sunday, Sept. 16.
