PHOTOS: Final Dress Rehearsal for Opening of Simon's Award-Winning 'Barefoot in the Park' in Banning

PAPA performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and June 2,3, and 5 at Banning Woman's Club. The play opened in 1963, ran for 1,530 performances in New York, making it Neil Simon's longest-running hit, according to Internet Broadway Database.

The Pass Area Performing Artists held their final dress rehearsal Thursday in Banning for Neil Simon's 1960s hit play, "Barefoot In The Park," directed by Marsha Kennedy.

The opening performance is at 7 p.m. Friday at the Banning Woman's Club.

The original Broadway production of the romantic comedy opened in October 1963 and ran for 1,530 performances, closing in June 1967, making it Neil Simon's longest-running hit, and the 10th longest-running non-musical play in Broadway history, according to the Internet Broadway Database.

The play was nominated for three 1964 Tony Awards, and Mike Nichols won the trophy for Best Director - Dramatic.

According to Pass Area Performing Artists, their production will follow the lives of newlyweds Paul, played by Chris Morse, and Corie Bratter, played by Venissa Timbreza, as they adjust to married life in a tiny mid-Manhattan apartment.

Kennedy is an award-winning director and set designer who recently directed "Enchanted April" for the Ramona Hillside Players in Hemet.

Performances of "Barefoot in the Park" are scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and June 2,3, and 5 at the Banning Woman’s Club, 175 W. Hays St. in Banning.  All seats are $12.
