Mountaintop Jazz Fest Set for Mid-August

Singer-songwriter Casey Abrams, who finished in the top 10 of contestants on American Idol in April 2011, will be among the featured acts during the three-day festival.

About two-dozen musicians, including an American Idol finalist, are set to play in Idyllwild's annual mile-high jazz festival Aug. 15- 17.

The 21st annual edition of Idyllwild Jazz in the Pines will be held on the campus of Idyllwild Arts Academy, with most of the performances staged at the Holmes Amphitheater.

Others acts include Black Swan Blues, Euphoria Brass Band, Greg Jones Band, the Peter Sprague Quartet, Rocky Zharp, Stars on the Water, The Straight Jackets and international performer Yve Evans, a desert-area favorite.

Performances are scheduled in the French Quarter, Stephens Hall and the amphitheater.

Aside from music, the festival will include food and crafts vendors, as well as informational booths about the academy, which uses proceeds from the festival to fund scholarships for aspiring musicians, according to organizers.

Adult admission is $65 for a daylong pass. Children 12 and younger are free.
