It's finally here, and it's cherry time.
The annual Beaumont Cherry Festival takes over Stewart Park through the weekend, to be filled with games, rides, entertainment, food and fun.
And as if that weren't enough-- there's more.
In addition to the festival, a parade featuring marching bands, dancers and floats will be held Saturday morning, June 9, at 10:30 a.m., starting at 12th Street and Beaumont Avenue and proceeding south down Beaumont Avenue, finishing at the Civic Center. of 'Hell's Kitchen' will be the Grand Marshall of that event.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to partake in the festival-- as last year some 70,000 attendees passed through the gates, according to Cherry Festival Vendor Director Sue Pensak.
Penask estimates that there will be roughly 250 vendors set up at the Cherry Festival-- about 200 of which will be arts and crafts and commercial vendors; and the remaining will be food and snack type vendors.
You'll be able to catch those vendors beginning Thursday at 5 p.m., when the festival officially opens.
