The Idyllwild Arts Foundation will honor film composer Hans Zimmer at its annual scholarship gala next month, the organization announced Friday.

Zimmer and longtime Idyllwild Arts board member Earl Fisher will receive the Life in Art Award on April 14 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. The gala raises money for scholarships for students who attend Idyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Program in the San Jacinto Mountains, according to Idyllwild Arts spokeswoman Lydia Kremer.

Zimmer won Academy Award for best original score for "The Lion King" in 1995 and has also won Tony Awards, Grammys and Golden Globes. He has scored more than 100 films, including "Rain Man," "Driving Miss Daisy," "Gladiator" and "The Dark Knight Rises."
