What's in a 'Doula'? Find Out at Banning Moms Group Event

The Pass Area Breastfeeding Café is hosting the event in celebration of "World Doula Week."

Have you ever hear of a "doula" before?  If not, now's your chance to learn what the role- similar to a labour coach- is all about and how they're being utilized here in The Pass.

A local group called The Pass Area Breastfeeding Café is hosting a free event this Wednesday at The Farmhouse Restaurant in Banning, in which attendees can meet with and learn about local doulas.

"This event is being offered to share with prenatal mothers and the community about the benefits of the presence of doulas in birth and in the postpartum period," organizer Nicole Palmer told Patch.  "Just a couple of those benefits include: increasing the mother’s satisfaction of the birth experience and increasing breastfeeding initiation and continuation."
