Three Arrested at Hemet DUI Checkpoint

Two people were arrested on suspicion of DUI, and another person was nabbed for possession of narcotics, the CHP said.

A total of three people were arrested at a Memorial Day weekend DUI checkpoint in Hemet—two of them on suspicion of driving under the influence, it was announced Tuesday.

The checkpoint, , was held Friday night at Highway 74 and Las Flores Drive, near Columbia Street, from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m., according to CHP Officer Darren Meyer.

A total of 246 drivers passed through the checkpoint, with only four of them being sent to a secondary inspection “with indicators of alcohol impairment,” Meyer said.

Two people were arrested at the scene for DUI, the officer added.  Another person was arrested for possession of narcotics. 

Two vehicles were stored at the scene, and two more were impounded for drivers who were caught driving through the checkpoint with a suspended license, according to Meyer.
