Three Arrested at Hemet DUI Checkpoint

Two people were arrested on suspicion of DUI, and another person was nabbed for possession of narcotics, the CHP said.

A total of three people were arrested at a Memorial Day weekend DUI checkpoint in Hemet—two of them on suspicion of driving under the influence, it was announced Tuesday.

The checkpoint, , was held Friday night at Highway 74 and Las Flores Drive, near Columbia Street, from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m., according to CHP Officer Darren Meyer.

A total of 246 drivers passed through the checkpoint, with only four of them being sent to a secondary inspection “with indicators of alcohol impairment,” Meyer said.

Two people were arrested at the scene for DUI, the officer added.  Another person was arrested for possession of narcotics.

Two vehicles were stored at the scene, and two more were impounded for drivers who were caught driving through the checkpoint with a suspended license, according to Meyer.

That scheme to entrap people and their property didn't even net enough to cover the expense of setting up this checkpoint for all the highly trained experts.. It makes more sense to have these officers patrol this area if it really is a problematic area..

Not only is it a scheme, but according to Judge Andrew Napolitano (and common sense) an unconstitutional scheme at that, just like those red light camera's!

If drivers are under the influence of anything, or driving without a license, there is no excuse or justification for doing that. They should be arrested. Would you change your mind if you had been hit by one of the DUI drivers? Judge Andrew Napolitano is a libertarian who believes everyone should do whatever they wish, regardless of common sense or concern for others.
