San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital to Offer Final Construction Tour This Week

This will be the last in a series of tours allowing the public to view the new facilities at SGMH in Banning.

This Wednesday will give locals one last chance to get a behind-the-scenes peek at the Pass's main hospital's new building.

San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital has been building a new emergency room/ intensive care unit and it is just about complete-- as of the August tour, it was 95 percent done.

"Tour groups can learn about how the new building, scheduled to open in Spring of 2013, meets the state-mandated seismic codes, and uses the latest technology to help SGMH provide excellent care and service," Hospital Spokeswoman Molly Ellis said.  "In addition, participants can visit the 'mock-up' patient rooms, and find out what it would feel like to be a patient in the ED or ICU."

Groups have been led through the site for the last several months, to check on the progress of the project.  However, since it's almost done, Wednesday will be the last public group tour, organizers said.

There have been eight tours so far this year, according to Ellis.
