Where to Watch Royal Wedding Coverage Near the Pass

Some British pubs in Southern California are offering overnight and all-day events to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

It's halfway around the world at Westminster Abbey, and it involves a monarch family with no ties to Southern California or the United States.

But it's a 21st century royal wedding, and at least a few locals in Banning and Beaumont will rise early Friday to catch a televised or streamed glimpse of Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton as they tie the knot.

There are a number of places where curious residents of the San Gorgonio Pass can find out what all the fuss is about - without getting up at 3 a.m. Pacific to watch the wedding live.

For those who want to get ahead of the curve and in on the anticipation, the Royal Falconer British Pub in Redlands is sure to be buzzing Thursday night in advance of the wedding.

The pub will not be open early Friday for live viewing of the wedding, a waitress at the Falconer said in a phone interview.

But there are plans to host a viewing party of wedding coverage and recaps starting at 11 a.m. Friday, the waitress said. The pub has five television screens on the ground level, and those who don't care for royals may still appreciate the authentic fish-and-chips. The Falconer is at 106 Orange St. in Redlands. For those who want to watch live on the internet, "The Royal Channel Live Stream" is already up and running, with video congrats and best wishes from around the globe, and sections devoted to the wedding service, the reception, and other background.

People who want to celebrate the event live with others may be tempted to venture further west.

For example, there's an overnight party at the Cat & Fiddle in Hollywood, with drink specials, British food and the wedding live on big screens. Capacity at the Cat & Fiddle is 300 and the pub is selling tickets online for $20 plus a service fee. All are welcome from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Thursday, but thereafter only those with tickets will be allowed to remain, a manager said in a phone interview. The party goes until 4 a.m. Friday, the manager said.

The Cat & Fiddle celebration picks up again after sunrise Friday with encore showings of the wedding all day, as well as more drink specials and free snacks. The pub is at 6530 Sunset Blvd. Phone (323) 468-3800.

The party also goes overnight at the White Harte Pub in Woodland Hills, with live viewing of the big event. The party starts at 11:30 p.m. Thursday and goes to 5 a.m. Friday, a waitress said in a phone interview. Admission is $25  and $50 to be seated at a table. The White Harte is at 22456 Ventura Blvd. Call (818) 224-3822 to RSVP.
