Overnight Freeze Warning Issued for Area Including the San Gorgonio Pass

The warning was for midnight Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

Wind-sheltered areas in and near the San Gorgonio Pass could experience frost or freezing conditions before dawn on Christmas Eve, according to the National Weather Service.

A freeze warning was issued Friday afternoon for an area including the Pass, from midnight to 9 a.m. Saturday.

"Northeast to east winds will continue across the Inland Empire and mountains . . . through Saturday . . . with locally gusty conditions possible," the Weather Service advised.

"However . . . wind sheltered ares will see very cold and freezing or frosty conditions possible tonight."

Overnight lows from Beaumont to Cabazon are forecast in the high 30s to low 40s.

If frost or freezing occurs, it will likely be higher in the San Gorgonio Wilderness and the San Jacinto Mountains. Ice formed on Lake Fulmor during a storm that brought snow to elevations above 5,000 feet.

"Another round of locally moderate northeast to east winds is possible late Saturday into Christmas Day," the Weather Service advised.
