Organizers Tout Banning Centennial Gala Nov. 2 at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa

Organizers are touting the Banning Centennial Gala on Nov. 2, an event sponsored by the Morongo Band of Mission Indians to benefit the Banning Community Fund.

Guests are urged to attend in "turn of the century dress" from the 1880s to 1919, said Banning Centennial Celebration committee member Mary Ann Melleby. Banning was incorporated Feb. 6, 1913.

"This '1913 Black Tie' event will be an opportunity to celebrate Banning's centennial year  with special entertainment, an original production featuring Banning's history and an auction featuring unique activities and experiences," said Barbara Hanna, chair of the Banning Centennial Celebration.

The gala, part of Banning's year-long centennial celebrations, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2 in the Grand Ballroom at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon.

Individual tickets are $35 per person. Sponsor tables are available for $800 per table of 10 persons.

Tickets can be purchased on-line at Banning100birthday.com or checks may be sent, payable to the Cultural Alliance (memo: Gala) to Helen at Cultural Alliance, P.O. Box 385, Banning, CA 92220. Tickets will be available at Will Call at the event. The reservation deadline is Wednesday Oct. 23. For more info call (951) 922-0856.
