Storm Blows Cold Through the Pass

A storm system brought more wind, rain and snow Sunday at higher elevations in the San Gorgonio Pass. Rain turned to sleet, hail and snow Sunday night in Cabazon and Banning, and thunder rattled the mountains on both sides of the Pass.

Update 9:15 p.m. Sleet, hail and snow fell Sunday night in Cabazon and Banning, and along Interstate 10.

Outages were reported in Banning. Street lights on East Ramsey and West Ramsey were working as of 9 p.m.

Patches of melting sleet, hail or snow were visible at the weigh station on westbound I-10 east of Banning, and on a few lawns on West Ramsey Street.

Posted 1:56 p.m. A storm system brought more wind, rain and snow Sunday morning at higher elevations in the San Gorgonio Pass. By afternoon the rain had paused and clouds blanketed the high mountains.

There was a 50 percent of showers Sunday night, with Beaumont to Cabazon lows from 38 to 43 degrees expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday is suspposed to be sunny with highs in the high 50s to mid 60s.
