DUI Checkpoint Planned for San Jacinto

Sheriff's officials say the checkpoint will be held Friday night.

The sheriff's department has announced a DUI checkpoint for Friday night in the San Jacinto area.

The checkpoint, to be held at an undisclosed location, will run from 7 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Ralph Leal.

"The goals of these checkpoints are to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage the use of sober designated drivers," Leal said.  "A DUI checkpoint is a proven-effective method for achieving this goal. By publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the San Jacinto Police Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving."
