UPDATE: Downed Power Line Cleared in Banning, Outages Reported in Hemet

Update 5:35 p.m. More than 80 homes were without power Monday evening due to wind-related outages in Hemet, according to Southern California Edison.

The outages for 85 Edison customers began shortly after 2 p.m. Dec. 9 and the cause was winds, according to the utility's map of current outages.

Edison crews were on scene working to restore service. A time for restoration fo service was being re-evaluated.

Update 2:46 p.m.
 An Edison spokesman said the power line that came down Monday afternoon in Banning is maintained by Banning Electric.

Outages reported Dec. 9 in Yucaipa, the east san Gorgonio Pass and Palm Springs were part of scheduled maintenance and not wind-related, Robert Villegas of Southern California Edison said in a phone interview.

Posted 2:18 p.m. A power line came down Monday afternoon in Banning near Hathaway and Ramsey, and Southern California Edison was reporting outages elsewhere in the east San Gorgonio Pass and Palm Springs area.

The downed power line in Banning was reported at 1:29 p.m. Dec. 9 near North Hathaway and East Ramsey, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"Officers responded and blocked off the area while electric department employees cleared the downed power line," Banning police Staff Sgt. Alex Diaz told Patch.

The scene was clear as of 2:10 p.m., Diaz said.

Edison reported outages with 65 customers effected in the Palm Springs area and and in unincorporated Riverside County in the east Pass, where two customers were effected. In Yucaipa, an outage was effecting one customer, according to Edison.

It was not clear whether the downed lines and outages were a direct result of wind conditions. Wind warnings and advisories were in effect for the Pass and the Coachella Valley.
