Deadline Approaching to Submit Names for Beaumont's Public Safety Memorial Wall
The Public Safety Memorial, which was unveiled last Independence Day, will have new names etched onto it this year.
The following is a news release from the city of Beaumont:
Do you have a loved one who served as a police or fireman?
You can honor them by placing their name on the Public Safety Memorial at the Beaumont Civic Center.
The memorial honors deceased police and fire personnel who lived in or served the Beaumont or Cherry Valley area.
General guidelines for police and fire personnel:
- Generally, any person who comes within the provisions of the 830 through 830.65 of the California Penal Code and who otherwise meets the requirements of Section 1031 of the Government Code, the selection and training standards of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and all standards imposed by law on a peace officer is a peace officer and shall have their name placed in the Public Safety Memorial.
- Any firefighter, volunteer fire fighter or EMS person who was a member of a regularly organized fire department of a city, county, city and county, district, or federal agency shall have their name placed in the Public Safety Memorial.
The application deadline is Friday, May 16, 2014. The City of Beaumont will unveil the names and pay tribute during a public ceremony on July 4th. For a complete list of guidelines, please visit www.BeaumontCares.com. Applications are available online and at City facilities.
