Cold Front Expected to Bring Strong Winds, Wet Weather to Pass Tuesday

A high wind warning was issued for 6 a.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday, with sustained winds 40 mph to 70 mph possible.

A cold front is expected to bring strong winds, rain showers and snow to the San Gorgonio Pass on Tuesday.

"A low pressure system from the northwest will move through southwest California Tuesday afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service advised.

"West winds will strengthen Tuesday mornng with strongest winds expected mid afternoon Tuesday through Tuesday evening. There is potential for damaging winf gusts to 85 mph . . . especially near the desert foothills of the mountains in Riverside and San Diego counties."

In desert areas, blowing dust and sand could reduce visibilities to near zero at times, according to the Weather Service.

Light to moderate rain showers are likely Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning with snow at elevations above 3,500 feet.

Overnight lows Tuesday from Beaumont to Cabazon are expected to range from the mid 30s to low 40s.
