Big Rig Crash Blocks Morning Commute on I-10 in Banning, Beaumont

A crash involving two semi-trucks blocked lanes of Interstate 10 Thursday in the San Gorgonio Pass throughout the morning commute, but it was cleared by mid-morning, CHP tells Patch.

"One big rig ran into the back of another big rig," California Highway Patrol Spokesman Darren Meyer told Patch of the crash that was reported at 3:52 a.m. on the I-10 westbound side, between Highland Springs and Pennsylvania avenues.

CHP logs indicate three of the four lanes were initially closed for clean-up, but two of them were open by 5:50 a.m.

Caltrans was sent to the scene and at 8:45 a.m. they tweeted the crash was "...causing long delays at Pennsylvania Ave. Expect traffic control."

At 9:45 a.m., the closure was scheduled to be completely lifted, according to CHP reports.   Caltrans said at 9:55 a.m. that all lanes were open.
