Banning's Sunset Avenue Project Ahead of Schedule, City Says

Westbound on/off ramps to North Sunset Avenue will reopen on Friday night, while the eastbound ramps will close.

The following is a news release from the city of Banning:

The contractor handling the Sunset Grade Separation Project, Riverside Construction Company, is several days ahead of schedule for Stage 1 of the project. 

Stage 1 consisted of improvements along the west bound on/off ramps and north bound lanes of Sunset Avenue from the 10 Freeway to Ramsey Street. 

Stage 1 will be complete on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:30pm. The west bound on/off ramps to north Sunset Avenue will be reopening at that time.

Stage 2 will commence on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:30pm. The eastbound on/off ramps at Sunset Avenue will be closed for approximately 8 months. 

During that time a variety of improvements will be completed including new retaining walls, soldier pile walls, and a variety of utility improvements.

50 or 100 cars go down that road a day not 1000 or 2000 a day

Mike doesnt realize that they do actual traffic counts before they undertake projects like this. Remember when they had the little "boxes" (counters) on the side of the road? I didnt think so.....

Yes, they do need this. More times than not, this road is avoided because of its current condition. Its an improvement for future use. I would rather see my tax dollars go towards this than some city back alliance, or bullcrap program that only benefits a few of the old councils friends...
