Bald Eagle Counts Next Weekend at Man-Made Reservoirs Near the Pass
Forest Service and State Parks rangers are seeking volunteers to help count wintering bald eagles on Saturday Feb. 11.
Biologists with the Forest Service and California State Parks are seeking volunteers to help count bald eagles next weekend.
Each year a number of eagles winter near the San Gorgonio Pass, in the San Jacinto and San Bernardino mountain ranges, and at Lake Perris.
The migrating birds of prey are drawn to man-made reservoirs in and near the mountains, which are surrounded by arid desert.

The count is scheduled on Saturday Feb. 11 at five locations:
- Lake Hemet, south of Idyllwild and Mountain Center in the San Jacinto Mountains.

- Big Bear Lake, in the San Bernardino Mountains.
- Lake Arrowhead, in the San Bernardino Mountains.
- Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, in the San Bernardino Mountains.
- Lake Perris State Recreation Area, between Moreno Valley and Perris.
