Libi, are you really that stupid? The article does not state 0.11 it states 0.11%. In other wordsRead Morei t has ALREADY BEEN converted. It is equivalent to 0.0011
Jeff Benson July 24, 2014 at 11:14 AM
Libi, did you look for the answer you wanted regardless of how far it drifted from reality? WhileRead More0 .11 is equivalent to 11%, 0.11% (as stated on the Beaumont website) is not the same as 11%. Please leave the 5th grade math lessons to the 5th grade math teachers.

My opinion is that it is probably far more correct that the "forensic" quasi audits thatRead Morey ou wasted your money on with Libi. After all, this audit was done by a team of certified CPA's who have been in business many years as compared to a person who has never held a position as an accountant and even whose degree is in question as inquiries to her supposed school are returned saying they have no current record of her. **** You would do far more good if you were to run for council instead of this interminable whining and attacking those you hold a grudge against. **** Jeremiah

I agree, Jim, but I'm a little concerned that given a finite amount of available water we continueRead Moret o add growth that requires it to be split in smaller and smaller increments. Rather than limit growth to available water, it appears that the powers-that-be would rather squeeze people in the name of conservation in order to support the growth that brings them money to spend. Pretty soon none of us will have enough water, and it won't be because of natural shortage, but because of development in already over-used water basins. **** Jeremiah

My guess, and this is just a guess is that most of the projects coming forward are projects thatRead Morewer e previously approved and put on the back burner because of the recession. time to rename beaumont 'detroit, ca'Read More ----------------------------------------------------------- ------- "Half of Detroit’s Streetlights May Go Out as City Shrink" From the Bloomberg Report - By Chris Christoff May 24, 2012 9:06 AM PT ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Detroit, whose 139 square miles contain 60 percent fewer residents than in 1950, will try to nudge them into a smaller living space by eliminating almost half its streetlights. As it is, 40 percent of the 88,000 streetlights are broken and the city, whose finances are to be overseen by an appointed board, can’t afford to fix them.. ....Detroit’s dwindling income and property-tax revenue have required residents to endure unreliable buses and strained police services throughout the city.... You seem to have it all worked out - I wonder why the judges and prosecutors don't appear to agreeRead Morew ith you. I think it's wrong too, but unfortunately the law is currently not being interpreted that way. You make a good point here and you have done it without spewing venom and vitriol. Thanks, Libi! **** I'm not sure how you pull Castaldo into it for owning a business that serves the city residents well, but leaving that aside I completely agree with you on the Urban Logic thing. The contract with them needs to go and any connection with it needs to step down. If you have spoiled meat in your refrigerator the smell is so bad you throw it out. Urban Logic has a spoiled smell about it and it brings a cloud of doubt upon the city. Get rid of it and hire a company which has a good reputation. That would go a long way towards solving the increasingly bad reputation Beaumont is getting because of Urban Logic and connected people. **** Jeremiah

Here is a small thing that I do to save money that goes down the drain every time I turn on myRead Moreindoo r faucet until the water gets hot. For example every time I hand wash dishes I catch that first gallon that is getting hot in an empty plastic bottle. Later I pour it on a plant outdoors. It is also an opportunity to get some extra exercise too.
Ken July 21, 2014 at 03:03 AM
In every municipality Ive ever worked in, when Contractors and Developers begin construction (postRead Morew ater mains) hydrants are fitted with meters to allow for charges billed to parties using water. Water used during the one time only Construction phases is a mere pittance compared to the ongoing "will serve letters" granting unchecked demand that strains the capacity of the water resource. The City "vision" of emerald parkways and lush greenery and codified City ordinances that mandate GREEN landscaping covering 70% of residential parcels is unwise and needs review. Im not advocating 'brownscape" by any means. What is needed is some forward thinking with an eye on our most precious and fastest diminishing resource. Please dont wait until the system fails. Urge the City and BCVWD to come up with a working relationship that DOESNT benefit EITHER, but rather takes in the concerns of the population they are SUPPOSED to serve. Mayor Knight I suggest you revisit the campaign pledges you made during your election regarding water treatment, recycling, and the problems we face. IT IS time for you to make a difference and live up to your promises.
Gail Paparian July 21, 2014 at 12:53 PM
All valid thoughts, Ken. You should include SGPWA in this, as they are the wholesaler to theRead Moreretaile rs you mentioned. Cooperation is very thin in the long history of water in the San Gorgonio Pass. I keep looking for information that says people who extract water from the basin have to replenish? The Beaumont basin is at least adjudicated. What about Cabazon Basin or Coachella Valley. I remember explaining to my grandson that if he took more money out of the bank than he deposited, he would be overdrawn. How can we keep extracting water from the ground and not making sure it is returned? Those making the regs, no matter how silly they may sound OWE the public by setting a good example. My goal for the rest of this drought ridden summer: MAKE CAMPAIGN PROMISES ENFORCEABLE! Get all of the electeds together and feed them a thirst-producing lunch. Do not provide the water for them to drink. They get to make decisions that benefit the people BEFORE they leave the room. It may not be a solution but it is certainly a start.

Uwing, I too am glad you attended the meeting. For so long only a handful of citizens have beenRead Moreatte nding. I think if more people would make the effort to learn what's happening in our town we could all work together to make the best future possible for our families. I have to warn you it is hard to get a true picture of all the intricacies from 3 minute public comments. I want to challenge you, and anyone else interested, to meet me for coffee or a beer, my treat, to get my perspective on what's working and what's not and how I think we can move forward to build a better Beaumont. Anyone interested in taking this challenge, please email me at OurFocusOurKids@gmail.com. I would also be honored to come to your home to talk to you and your friends, I will even bring homemade refreshments from my wife Marti; she is a great cook. Uwing, I hope you will continue to come to council meetings, we really need all the help we can get. Thank you.
