Why don't these people identify themselves when they call their viciously bad names? When I callRead Moret he Beaumont gang liars and thieves I give my full name. You all know I served on the council and was in a position to know.
Jeremiah April 22, 2014 at 05:59 PM
Nancy - which people are you talking about? I have always operated under my real name. We probablyRead Morea gree on this point - I don't think anyone should be allowed to post under an alias. I do know you served on the Council and I for one appreciated your service. Too many people have this idea you guys wake up in the morning figuring ways to loot the City and get independently wealthy - the Council people I have met in many cities are pretty regular people (there are exceptions!). You pretty much stood up for the people of Beaumont, just as several on the Banning Council are doing for Banning. Why do you think it is that that brings all the weevils out of the woodwork under anonymous names? **** Jeremiah
Jeremiah April 18, 2014 at 12:28 PM
Libi, I find it really interesting that in the past you posted some very scathing comments aboutRead Moreex- chief Purvis "stealing" money from Banning, but now you come out in support of him trying to get more? Your agenda is showing. **** Jeremiah

Well said Jeremiah!
Jeremiah April 23, 2014 at 10:02 AM
Ah, we get somewhere! Thank you for having the decency to not reveal the identity of my friendsRead More(fro m who I do rent a room in order to have a Banning address as I already informed you, and where I am several times a week) as they are not involved in politics. In return I will also stop my calls for you to reveal your identity. After considering who you probably are I can understand that you, like ATC, do have good reasons to remain anonymous and not get involved with the "crazies" on both sides. Don't forget that when you ask questions at the main office they also can reveal who asked those questions. I haven't bothered to check and I won't - it really isn't important to me to "out" you. I do ask that for the same reason you stop using my full name in comments and stick with Jeremiah. I used to use the full name if you remember, but I don't need some of these people showing up at my door either, as I am a little tightly wound and there would be trouble. **** You have admitted you were wrong and that I did have a business (actually 3) in Banning within the fairly recent past. I will admit that I appear to be wrong concerning your motive for posting anonymously, and I will look forward to serious and intelligent discussions of Banning politics. Time and you yourself will tell in your own words whether you are an objective and fair participant or one of those who have a personal agenda. **** More than "tidbits of information" what is needed are suggestions of where we go and what we need to do on certain issues. I'm only against people who bash others without actual knowledge of them (like Libi) or who present partial and skewed information in order to make insinuations (again like Libi is attempting to do to Banning). It's one thing to say something about a person based on personal experience, and quite another to say something based on a newspaper article or word of mouth. **** Here is a question for you - that letter sent anonymously to the Council concerning Duane Burke was a sleazy slimy piece of work and Phil Goebbels revealed himself as being just as sleazy to print it - everyone got up in the air about the Council investigating it, but how else would you clear a person's name once allegations are made publicly? I know from personal contact when that letter was received, and Ed Miller told it straight - the Council was ignoring it as trash until Goebbels made it public, whereupon they pretty much have to do an investigation to clear it up. Investigations aren't always to incriminate someone, sometimes they are to establish truth and clear people. That is a basic part of our justice system. Aren't Duane's supporters kind of doing the same thing to the Council that they are protesting was being done to Duane? I can see nothing being done by the Council that isn't what would normally be done once an accusation is made, or that any employer wouldn't do if their employee was accused? So why are people calling for the recall of 3 members for doing the only thing that gives Duane a fair shake and the only thing which can actually fully clear his name and reputation? I know that one Council member has questions about Duane's effectiveness, but I also know that Council member told me when the letter was received that it was trash and asked me if I had any idea who wrote it. The thought was that someone is trying to create an issue with which to place the Council in a bad position and create dissension between staff and Council, which it appears they have successfully done. Your thoughts? **** Jeremiah
Jeremiah April 23, 2014 at 11:28 AM
Me, I'm pretty sick of these issues coming up on both sides. Somehow it seems to have beenRead Moreforgotten we elected and hired these people to run the City for US - not to create drama and fight political battles. You don't have to like someone to work with them, and I see WAY too many personal issues and likes and dislikes which are taking precedence over the residents wishes for their City. I really don't like seeing contracts which have been altered without authority - but neither do I like seeing a Council split on what to do about it when public comments have been almost unanimous how they want the council to proceed. The people have made their preferences clear - but I don't see a Council which is responding unanimously to implement that direction, and I see staff which are also working to an agenda separate from what has been voiced by the citizens. That needs to change, and (as ATC has said better than I) each and every person elected or hired needs to realize that we are done with agendas separate from what the citizens express. If they expect support, then they need to make the decisions and do the things we support. As ABI says, things appear better for now but we will see how that lasts. I see a lot that is good change - but that has to continue in order to be real, and it has to extend to each and every Councilperson. As much as I respect each and every Councilperson and believe that they have a right to different personal viewpoints, those personal viewpoints and agendas have to be set aside in favor of the citizen's viewpoints. I don't see that happening in every case here, and that is what people want to see before election time. It isn't about personality or personal likes or dislikes of a Council member - it is about "are they able to set aside their personal wishes and agendas and represent those of the citizens". **** Jeremiah
haden ward April 23, 2014 at 11:35 AM
Why is everyone getting fired up at the new council members? because they are not part of the goodRead Moreo ld boys system that was there? because they don't like wasting money on crap projects with no benefit to the city? or is it because they are holding people accountable? ABI, you seem like a friend to those who were dismissed or you are one of the one who were dismissed. Let me ask you this, if they did nothing wrong, then why get rid of them? This council took over from councils past when the city had a lot more money in its banks. The old crew saw fit to throw it around causing such shortfalls that employees had to be let go and vital projects canceled. Like I said before, there will be more information coming out that will put this to bed.

Yes, I kind of wonder also why a person needs to be paid over $100k to do a good job as CityRead MoreManager . The last go-round seems to prove that doesn't work. The last manager was paid almost $300k if this article is right and overstepped his authority and put Banning in jeopardy of lawsuits over the El Paseo project. Even worse than that, he compromised the wishes of the citizens he works for in making unauthorized changes to that project which were to the sole benefit of the developer. Maybe we should hire at $100k and increase it each year that we are happy with their service and the results of the job they do. Any City Manager worth his salt ought to be able to save or produce enough money for the City to cover his increase in salary or he shouldn't get one, would be the logical way to look at it. **** Jeremiah
