Marcius L. Duboise, 35, of Lynwood, was taken into custody about 3:50 a.m. by tactical personnel, according to sheriff's Cpl. Courtney Donowho.

Sheriff's deputies and Morongo Tribal Patrol officers were dispatched about 6:55 p.m. Tuesday to "numerous reports of gunshots" in the 48000 block of Morongo Road on the Morongo Indian Reservation, Lt. Ruben Navarro of the sheriff's Cabazon Station said.

An "unknown male subject had exited a private residence, fired multiple rounds from a handgun and callers were concerned that another person had been struck," Navarro said.

Deputies and Tribal Patrol officers worked to evacuate nearby homes, blocked off streets, and determine whether there were any injuries, Navarro said.

Sheriff's dispatchers received numerous phone calls from a male subject at the residence reporting someone had been shot, Navarro said.

But he refused to cooperate with dispatchers and law enforcement at the scene, and the caller repeatedly hung up, Navarro said.

"A safety sweep of the property grounds was conducted and a loaded firearm was found lying on the ground," Navarro said.

Commanders at the scene called out the sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau and Crisis Negotiation Team, Navarro said.

Several attempts to negotiate with the caller were unsuccessful and about 3:50 a.m. Wednesday tactical personnel entered the home and took one male subject into custody, Navarro said.

No one else was found in the residence. No one was shot or injured over the course of the incident, Navarro said.
