Police: Gun Stolen in Cherry Valley Burglary Found on Felon
The man apparently tried to ditch the loaded firearm in a bush when police went to talk to him.
A convicted felon was back behind bars in Banning on Monday, after sheriff's deputies say he was spotted with a loaded, stolen gun.
22-year-old Joseph Serna was arrested Saturday after police got a call about a "man with a gun" in San Jacinto, Sheriff's Sergeant Joey Nardone said.
"When the suspect saw the officers, he threw the gun into a planter of a residence," Nardone said. "The gun was recovered and found to be loaded."

What's more, when authorities looked the gun up, they found that it had been reported stolen out of a recent home burglary in Cherry Valley, according to Nardone.
Serna-- who is on parole-- was booked into the Larry D. Smith correctional facility without bail on felony charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun, possession of stolen property, parole violations and being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to Nardone and jail records.
