Firefighters + Aircraft Contain Ridge-Top Fire Near Calimesa to Quarter-Acre

The fire was reported at 2:21 p.m. Friday near Shadow Lane and Wild Flower Lane, near the Riverside-San Bernardino county line, according to Cal Fire.

More than 70 firefighters, two bulldozers, and three aircraft crews contained a ridge-top vegetation fire to a quarter-acre Friday afternoon between Cherry Valley and Calimesa, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The fire was reported at 2:21 p.m. Friday near Shadow Lane and Wild Flower Lane, near the Riverside-San Bernardino county line, Cheri Patterson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said.

Crews in the area reported a quarter-acre of brush burning with a slow rate of spread at the ridge top, Patterson said.

Seven engine crews and a total of 71 firefighters responded, along with two bulldozers, one helicopter and two tanker crews, Patterson said.

The fire was declared contained at a quarter-acre at 3:21 p.m. Friday. One person sustained moderate injuries, according to Patterson.

No property damage was reported. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
