Boy Scouts Troop 322 Do Landscaping Project Outside Beaumont Post Office

Businesses that help Troop 322 with the project will be included in a display in the post office lobby, their scoutmaster said. The scouts hope to have enough landscaping materials to complete the planting in March.

Boy Scouts from Troop 322 of Beaumont recently took on a landscaping project outside the U.S. Post Office on Beaumont Avenue, and they are seeking donations of plants, stepping stones, and other materials from local businesses, their scoutmaster said.

The scouts reached an agreement with Postmaster Janice Ortiz in early December, and they spent two days in January planning, measuring and estimating what they'll need to complete the project, Scoutmaster Steven Pesante said.

The scouts have a postcard from the early 1970s that shows landscaping in front of the Beaumont Post Office, and they are using the image as a guide in their work, Pesante said.

Businesses that help Troop 322 with the project will be included in a display in the post office lobby, Pesante said. The scouts hope to have enough landscaping materials to complete the planting in March.

Troop 322 is sponsored by the Beaumont Lion's Club and meets at 7 p.m. each Monday at Sundance Elementary School in Beaumont.
