Bono Mack to Discuss Death of Whitney Houston on CNN Tuesday Morning
The Republican congresswoman is running for re-election in the newly-formed 36th District, which includes Whitewater, Cabazon, Banning, Beaumont, Cherry Valley and Calimesa.
The Republican congresswoman who wants to represent the San Gorgonio Pass is scheduled to discuss the death of Whitney Houston on CNN on Tuesday morning.
Rep. Mary Bono Mack, R-Palm Springs, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Prescription Drug Abuse, will appear live Tuesday morning on CNN's "Starting Point" with host Soledad O'Brien.
Houston was pronounced dead Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
"While it's still too early to know the exact cause of her death, Whitney Houston – like millions of Americans – reportedly struggled with the demons of prescription drug abuse for a long time," Bono Mack said in a statement.
"Today, prescription drug abuse is the fastest-growing drug problem in America and is now considered an epidemic by the Centers for Disease Control. But here’s what's so tragic: for the most part, prescription drug abuse is a treatable and even preventable health problem."
Houston will be remembered for her "rich, soulful, unmistakable voice," Bono Mack said.
"But perhaps her death can also be remembered as the turning point in the struggle against prescription drug abuse in America. That would be quite a legacy, too," Bono Mack said.
Bono Mack is running for re-election in November in the newly-formed 36th Congressional District, which includes Whitewater, Cabazon, Banning, Beaumont, Cherry Valley and Calimesa.

I can hardly wait to hear her address this critical issue. With respect to her personal experience I am sure she has some insight. But come on does this issue effect as many of us in the pass as the meth epidemic? I know Palm Springs and the desert cities are also plagued. It couldn't be because the meth problem and it's harmful effects are less glamourous could it? Or is it meth addicts are less likely to vote for her?

Wow - talk about taking advantage of a situation for political gain. Did she even know Houston? Has anyone determined the cause of death yet and if prescription drugs were even involved? Is Bono-Mack speculating, using rumor and innuendo & just plain exploiting Houston's death for votes? Shame on her.
