Beaumont Officer's Trial Pushed to Sept. 5

Both Enoch Clark and Monique Hernandez, the woman he's accused of assaulting, appeared in the Riverside County Courthouse on Thursday.

The trial for Beaumont police officer accused of blinding a local woman with pepper spray was pushed to Sept. 5 on Tuesday.

Both Officer Enoch Clark and Monique Hernandez, the woman he’s accused of assaulting, appeared in the Riverside County Courthouse Thursday morning, said John Hall, spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

Milton Grimes, the family attorney for Hernandez that his client will be at every hearing Clark is at.

“Every time he comes to court, we will be here,” Grimes told Patch outside the courtroom on May 29. “Because we want to show that we’re concerned and want to see justice, and we don’t want anything happening and we not be here to witness it.”

Clark is free on $50,000 bail.

On April 26, Clark was arraigned on four counts: assault under the color or authority, assault with a less lethal weapon, use of force causing serious bodily injury, and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury. There is also an enhancement that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.

The officer remains on administrative leave from the Beaumont Police Department.
