Banning Nurse Recognized for Dedication to Healthcare

Penny Harguess was one of 58 nurses honored by Senator Bill Emmerson during National Nurses Week.

A Banning nurse was one of five Visiting Nurse Association members to recently receive special recognition from Senator Bill Emerson.

Penny Harguess, who is a RN Hospice Clinical Educator from Banning, was honored at the 2 nd Annual Notable Nurses Awards breakfast on May 11 in Riverside, according to VNA spokeswoman Kathleen McEntee.

The awards were hosted by California State Senator Bill Emmerson during National Nurses Week "for their dedication to healthcare," McEntee said.

Harguess was one of five of the 450+ nurses who work for the Association to receive this prestigious honor.  A total of 58 nurses were honored at the event.

“We are delighted that Senator Emmerson has taken time to recognize the impact of nursing in healthcare,” said Mike Rusnak, CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association.

Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) nurses serve some 10,000 patients each year in their homes or places of residence throughout Riverside, San Bernardino, and North San Diego counties.
