Banning Murder Victim Honored at Local Memorial

Community and family members alike are paying tribute to Lawrence Wilson via a small memorial that's been set up near where he was killed.

Flowers, balloons and candles adorn the intersection near where 26-year-old Lawrence Wilson was shot and killed this week, as family members and loved ones pay their respects.

Wilson, fondly called "Low" on the signs and candles that remain lit 24 hours a day, died Wednesday night when he was shot several times, according to police and coroner's reports.

A daisy rests on top of a plaid jacket in the midst of the candles and signs, presumably Wilson's.

"You will be missed," many of the candles read.

A woman identifying herself on Patch as Wilson's sister has expressed how much she misses her brother "Low Bo;" especially how he would always say "love you."

"If anyone known Lawrence or Low-Bo like I did, his favorite word every time before he go is 'love you," Kaisha Oides wrote on Patch.  "Lawrence didn't care who you are, he was that kind of person to tell you that.  I wish I can tell him that now."

Police say they believe that the Banning resident was shot in the 100 block of North Phillips Street, near Ramsey Street at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Having been shot in "multiple times," Police Chief Leonard Purvis told Banning-Beaumont Patch that Wilson ran into Consuelo's Home Style Mexican Food on Ramsey street, looking for help.

"The male victim was rendered first aid at the location and transported to the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where he later succumbed to his injuries," police reported.

No suspects have been named in the case.  This is Banning's second murder in 2012.

Memorial service arrangements are pending, police tell Patch.
