Woman arrested later after abducting her non-custodial child in DHS

A woman is in jail after taking a Auto Source employee on a wild test drive Tuesday afternoon.

Banning Police says that an Auto Source employee reported a co-worker was being kidnapped by a woman refusing to return a vehicle during a test drive.

The woman, later identified by police as Courtney Hulbert, 42, refused to return the vehicle, heading toward Palm Springs with the adbucted employee inside.

The employee was able to jump out of the vehicle in North Palm Springs on Indian Canyon Road.  The employee was located by Highway Patrol Officers who reported the person was not injured.

Hulbert continued to Desert Hot Springs, where she took her non-custodial 6-year-old child from the child's grandmother's home.    Desert Hot Springs Police took Hulbert into custody shortly afterwards without incident.  She was turned over to Banning Police and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Hulbert remains in custody, and is charged with taking a vehicle without owner consent and kidnapping.    Her bail is set at $50,000
